At the same time, we have plenty of tools at our disposal that can show more informed decisions. At a minimum, research for a list of ways to reduce conflicts of interest or ensure higher pay should be directed to key organizations. In 2007, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Internal Revenue Service were tasked with identifying and implementing “conflict of interest disclosures” that alleged the “unnatural or unachievable” nature of individuals with particular interests in business matters. These disclosures were so broad and expansive, they included rules and regulations requiring lobbyists and others paying their customers’ same salaries to resolve conflicts of interest and so on.
