Many of these NPC’s were made to show what kind of world that island was, and what an adventurer would do with their lives and many of their belongings. Seeing how NPCs were made to seem different than original ones and how they would be set to change their appearance just before the island starts to break out can make you want to look down on them.

I was so taken aback by how diverse and elaborate this place looked. Not only were NPCs seemingly able to represent real places and interact with animals, but they were also free to make themselves appear as they pleased. So were simple tools. Using text, and making it appear like they’re really different from one thing to the next, you could change one’s appearance in ways that would make it feel different and new.
